Hundreds of elephants have died in unexplained circumstances in Botswana in recent weeks.
As many as 356 elephants have reportedly died in and around Botswana’s Okavango Delta. The country is home to the world’s largest elephant population, with about 130,000 animals.
Poaching has been ruled out, as the dead animals had their tusks intact, and showed no signs of violent death.
Biological samples are being analyzed in an effort to determine how the elephants died.
