The Irish Water merry go round continues, as it has been revealed today that hundreds of thousands incorrect bills will be sent to households across the country.

The company has confirmed that just under a million Irish Water-supplied customers have now registered.

However, the utility plans to send out a full complement of about 1.7 million bills, which means that around 700,000 customers who are not yet registered will either receive the wrong bill, or it will be an incomplete one.

This number includes about 150,000 who are not Irish Water customers, but who will still receive a bill because they may not have yet registered or provided correct details.

Those households who have not yet registered will likely receive a default bill for €64 for the quarter.

The bill onslaught will commence on the first week of April, and it will go on for eight weeks.

Irish Water has confirmed that it expects its call centres to be busy ‘for some months’ to deal with customer queries.
