Hurricane Michael has sadly already claimed its first victim as a man was killed by a falling tree.
The tragic incident which occurred in Greensboro, Gadsden County, comes after the state of Florida was smashed by the category 4 hurricane.
In an announcement made on Wednesday, local authorities confirmed that the man was killed by the tree at his home.
Although the powerful storm has been downgraded over the last few hours, hundreds of thousands of people were forced to flee their homes as winds reaching 249kph hit the state.
Meanwhile authorities have also confirmed that extensive damage has been reported across the state with hundreds of homes being destroyed or severely damaged.
They also say rising waters have caused widespread flooding throughout the state.
