A brave and determined Cork mother who is fighting tooth and nail with the Department of Health in order for her daughter to receive medicinal cannabis treatment, has said she hopeful her daughter will get what she so desperately needs.

The woman who has received overwhelming support from people all over the country Vera Twomey, has said her daughter Ava aged 7, is step closer to getting her treatment after she held productive talks with the Minister for Health Simon Harris on Tuesday.

After holding an eight day protest walk from Cork to Leinster House Ms Twomey, had a four hour meeting with Minister Harris in order to come up with a treatment option for Ava’s rare form of epilepsy.

Speaking earlier today Ms Twomey said that she discussed several options with Mr Harris that could offer Ava the treatment she needs for a rare form of epilepsy, and she is hopeful it can be resolved soon.
