“I did it I want to get rid of the disabled from this world”- man behind the brutal attack at Japenese disabled facilty confesses to police

Police in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, about 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Tokyo, have arrested the man behind he brutal attack that has seen 19 people killed and many more injured at disabled facility in Japan.

Japenese authorities have confirmed the suspect named Satoshi Uematsu, a 26-year old former employee at the facility, was arrested when he turned himself in at a nearby police station.

It is understood police were alerted to the attack after staff called police at 2.30 a.m. local time (1730 GMT Monday) with reports of a man armed with a knife on the grounds of the Tsukui Yamayuri-En facility.

The facility which is located on the Sagami River, reportedly cares for people with a wide range of disabilities.

According to local media reports the man, who was apparently wearing ablackT-shirt, did not have a knife when heturned himself in at a nearby police station. Police said they were still investigating possible motives.

Asahi Shimbun reported that the suspect was quoted by police as saying: “I want to get rid of the disabled from this world.”
