“I don’t watch RTE, I’m not paying” – Mixed reaction to government ‘overhauling’ TV licences – in an effort to get more people paying licences even if they only use a phone or tablet

There’s been a very mixed reaction, mostly negative towards the government’s proposals to overhaul the current TV licence. People who say that they don’t watch RTE, Ireland’s national broadcaster, will not be paying a licence fee.

They say that they have no interest in RTE’s State propaganda and will not be helping to fund it.

The completely out-of-touch government have announced that they’re not going to scrap the TV licence but instead will do an overhaul of it.

The government appear to not realise that they’re hated by many people, people who are hard working and consistently end up being the squeezed middle.

Rather than listen to people who detest being forced to pay for RTE and its propaganda machine, they’re going to try and get people to pay a licence fee even if they only use a mobile phone or tablet to watch the rubbish that the national broadcaster puts out.
