“I personally want the best for you and I wasn’t going to say this in front of everyone and my family and everyone but I don’t even want you to go to jail I want the best for you because that’s exactly what Botham would want you to do and the best would be give your life to Christ.”
He then told her “I love you as a person and I don’t wish anything bad on you.”
In an act that astounded everyone in court, he asked the judge for permission to hug Guygen and when this was granted, he walked across the courtroom and embraced the policewoman before she was led away to start her sentence.
Many people present in the court cried openly as they watched Brandt’s actions. His kindness and bravery are being hailed as something truly incredible which will most likely never be seen again.
