IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad has passed away aged 91, it has been confirmed.
Kamprad established the IKEA brand when he was just 17. He’d go on to become a billionair, opening 300 stores across 38 countries.
IKEA started like as a mail order company, but would switch to the successful formula of selling flat-packed furniture after a staff member suggested to unscrew the legs of a table for easier transportation & shipping, hitting an Eureka! moment.
IKEA confirmed that Kamprad died peacefully at his home, from natural causes.
