Sean “Diddy” Combs has sent a request to Donald Trump asking for a presidential pardon, but the US president has said he is not planning to offer clemency to the hip‑hop mogul, reports RTE.

Trump discussed the matter in an interview with The New York Times published on Thursday, saying the plea arrived in a letter but suggesting he was unlikely to approve it, reports RTE.

Combs is currently serving a 50‑month prison term after being convicted in July on two counts of transporting people across state lines to engage in prostitution.

He was cleared of the most serious accusations he faced, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, reports RTE.

A White House spokesperson backed up Trump’s remarks, while Combs’ representatives chose not to comment, according to US reports.

Combs’ lawyers are continuing an appeal and last month urged a federal appeals court in New York to demand his immediate release from prison, reports RTE.

In the same interview, Trump also said he was not contemplating pardons for several other notable figures, including Nicolás Maduro, former senator Robert Menendez and Sam Bankman‑Fried, reports RTE.
