A survey conducted by AA Car Insurance has claimed that 50% of Irish drivers say they’ve seen people driving around while on their mobile phone.
It also states that 28% of them see this regularly and that just 5% of drivers say they’ve never seen another driver on their phone.
Almost 30,000 were caught on their phone while driving last year, an average of around 80 people per day.
The penalty is a fixed charge of €60 and possibly two penality points.
