Pope Francis has urged Vladimir Putin to stop the “massacre” in Ukraine and warned that cities risk being “reduced to cemeteries”.
The Pontiff said that “this unacceptable armed aggression” against Ukraine must stop.
Speaking to thousands in St. Peter’s Square for his Sunday blessing, the Pope called Russian attacks on children’s and civilian hospitals “barbaric” and said they had “no valid strategic reasons”.
He said “in the name of God, please stop the massacre”.
I ask all diocesan and religious communities to increase their moments of prayer for peace. God is only the God of peace, he is not the God of war, and those who support violence profane his name. #LetsPrayTogether #Ukraine #Peace
