India has set a new world record of daily number of infections during the pandemic.
The country has reported a staggering 78,761 new cases in a single day, the highest daily figure in any country by far.
Official figures say that 63,498 people have died from Covid-19-related causes in India so far, though authorities believe that the true figure is far higher.
