An online fundraiser has amassed over €25,000 to support the families of two Indian students killed in a tragic car accident in Carlow.
A devastating car accident in Carlow claimed the lives of two young Indian students, Bhargav Chitturi and Suresh Cherukuri, both in their early 20s. The incident occurred when their black Audi crossed into the wrong lane and collided with a tree on the N80 in Leagh, Rathoe, at around 1:15 AM on Friday, January 31st. This spot tragically mirrors another fatal crash from the previous year at the same location.
In response to this tragedy, an online fundraiser has been launched to assist with the funeral expenses and other financial burdens for the families of the deceased. Within a short span, the fundraiser has collected over €25,000 from more than 400 donations. The goal set for the campaign is €30,000.
The two deceased were students at SETU Carlow, and a family friend, Venkat Vuppala, shared the community’s grief online, emphasizing the aim to unite in support during this challenging period. Apart from the two fatalities, two other passengers in their 20s were admitted to St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
This fundraiser reflects the community’s solidarity and compassion towards the bereaved families, showcasing the power of collective action in times of sorrow.
