The number people allowed to attend indoor and outdoor gatherings will be reduced under new Covid-19 measures approved by the cabinet this afternoon.
Under the new guidelines all outdoor gatherings will be limited to just 15 people instead of 200, whilst all indoor gatherings will be reduced from 50 to 6 execpt for shops, businesses and restaurants.
The new guidelines will also see Gardai given greater powers to clamp down on unauthorised public gatherings in areas such as bars, restaurants and private house parties.
Meanwhile office workers have been advised to work from home and the general public have been advised to avoid using public transport unless its absolutely necessary.
The new measures which will remain in place until September 13th at the earliest come as the Government look to halt the rise in Covid-19 cases in recent weeks.
