US tourist Stephen Termini’s condition is “slowly getting better”, his severely injured eye has improved, but it is not yet known if his vision has been affected, reports The Mirror.

His sons, Mike and Jessie Rizzuto, have been visiting him daily at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin since he arrived here last week.

Although Termini has come out of the coma, he is unaware that his sons are present.

Termini, a New Yorker, was seriously injured in an attack on July 19.

Yesterday, his son Mike told The Irish Mirror: “Things are slowly getting better. His eye is looking much better and he’s out of a coma, they’re the two things. I think he’ll keep his eye, but I’m not sure about his vision. But he’s getting better each day,” reports The Mirror.

Asked if Termini had spoken to them yet or if they were present, Mike said “Unfortunately” not yet.

Last weekend, Mike and Jessie visited Talbot Street and the exact spot where their father was struck.

Mike told us: “It was heavy, it wasn’t an easy thing to do but I felt like it was important that my brother and I go to it. Something tragic happened and I wanted to see where it happened to our dad and to soak in everything around it,” reports The Mirror.

Speaking last week, Justice Minister Helen McEntee said she would meet with the family and added that they had not yet engaged her.

Mike and Jessie arrived in Ireland after fundraising €120,000 to be able to afford the trip.

Termini’s other son Jesse previously said: “The people of Ireland have been incredibly supportive and have been trying to help us every step of the way, and we truly could not be more grateful for these people doing everything they can for us. It truly is making this entire process easier and again we could not be more grateful to everyone here,” reports The Mirror.
