INMO call for further action as 9,500 people were forced to wait on hospital trolleys last month




The current overcrowding at the nations hospitals reached an all time high last month as there were 9,500 people waiting on trolleys in the month of March.

The latest figures which were released by the INMO comes after the the Department of Health recently launched its winter initiative which reportedly created extra beds across the country.

However latest plan to ease the crisis has been slammed by the organisation who say although the plan was a step in the right direction it is still not enough to address the growing situation.

According to the latest figures Cork University Hospital recorded the highest trolley figure nationwide during the month of March, with 716 people.

The Second highest was University Hospital Limerick, with 699 waiting, whilst the University Hospital Galway had 638 people waiting for a bed.
