Instagram fined $400m for data protection failures

Instagram has been fined $400m for data protection failures.

The ruling came in the wake of a lengthy investigation dating back to 2020.

The regulator found that children aged between 13 and 17 were able to operate business accounts, which meant the youngsters’ email addresses and/or phone numbers were made public.

Instagram has announced its intention to appeal.
