Are you interested in becoming a member of the An Garda Síochána, well you may have to decide quickly as the closing date for applications is tomorrow.
It is believed that the Gardaí intend to create 600 new positions this year with the new roles being filled in conjuction with the public appointments service.
Meanwhile Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan has stated that she hopes the recent trend of large numbers of women joining the Garda forces continues this year.
Ms O’Sullivan told reporters: “When I joined An Garda Síochána in 1981, I was one of a tiny minority of women.” Ms O’Sullivan also said she was hopeful that the latest intake of recruits will be as diverse as possible to reflect the country’s changing communities.
The closing date for Garda recruitment applications is January 6th.
