In breaking news on Tuesday evening, the Taoiseach Micheal Martin sacked Barry Cowen as Minister for Agriculture over his drink driving ban.
A garda inquiry is ongoing as to how the media became aware of Cowen’s ban. It’s understood that Cowen was phoned by Micheal Martin and told over the phone that he was no longer going to be the Minister for Agriculture.
Along with that, Cowen is understood to be shocked and disappointed at his dismissal especially considering Martin had accepted his apology in the last couple of days.
