International Olympic Committee begin investigation into two Irish boxers for alleged betting during Rio Olympics




It has been reported early today that two Irish Olympic boxers are being investigated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for alleged betting during the Olympic Games in Rio.

The news was announced by a spokesperson for the Olympic Council of Ireland who said both boxers were “spoken to” over the incidents.

Meanwhile in a brief statement the OCI said: “The OCI can confirm that two Irish boxers at Rio 2016 were spoken to about inappropriate betting activity during the Games.”

“The matter is still under review so there will be no further comment at this stage.”
