Investigation continues after man dies after explosion in Co Donegal village

A man has died in an explosion at Cnoc Fola, Gaoth Dobhair, in Co Donegal.

Gardaí are based in Cnoc Fola on the outskirts of An Bun Beag (Bunbeg). The National Ambulance Service and Donegal Fire Brigade were also on site, reports RTE.

The area was evacuated and the armed forces were requested to clear the explosives.

The Health and Safety Agency has confirmed that it has launched an investigation into the incident, reports RTE.

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.

At the request of Chairman Liam Blaney, a minute’s silence was held at Donegal County Council’s monthly meeting to express “sympathies to the family and friends of the man who was killed in a work accident in west Donegal”, reports RTE.
