Investigation continues after vehicle carrying three young people entered Shannon Airport unauthorised area




Three people in their 20s have been detained after a vehicle drove into a restricted area at Shannon Airport.

The incident occurred at around 9.30am Saturday morning at the airport in Shannon, Co Clare, reports RTE.

A group identifying themselves as “Palestine Action Éire” claimed responsibility, saying their objective was to disrupt US military aircraft using the facility.

Gardaí said the vehicle was stopped by security personnel on duty, including members of An Garda Síochána, the Defence Forces and the Airport Police Service, reports RTE.

Two men and a woman were arrested and are being questioned under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at garda stations in Co Clare.

Investigations are continuing, reports RTE.
