A teenage girl has died after “becoming unwell” at a music festival in Northern Ireland over the weekend, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), reports RTE.
The PSNI said it received a report about the sudden death of a girl in her late teens yesterday.
She passed away in hospital after falling ill while attending an event in south Belfast, the police confirmed, reports RTE.
The event in question is believed to be the Emerge dance music festival, which took place at Boucher Road Fields during the weekend.
Two other individuals are still in hospital after also becoming unwell at the same festival, reports RTE.
A woman in her 30s is currently in a serious but stable condition, while a teenage boy received medical attention and is expected to recover fully, according to the PSNI.
“Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding all reports are ongoing,” a spokesperson for the PSNI said, reports RTE.
Organisers of the Emerge festival have been contacted for a statement, reports RTE.
