Police in the UK are continuing their investigations this morning after 39 people were tragically found dead in the back of a lorry in Essex, on Wednesday.

The investigation which has led to the arrest of 25-year-old Northern Irishman, comes after the 39 people were found in the back of a refrigerated container in Grays at approximately 1:40am on Wednesday morning.

Police investigating the incident say they are currently trying to identify those who sadly passed away in the lorry which arrived from Zeebrugge, Belgium.

It is not yet known where the victims came from but officers have confirmed that 38 adults and one teenager sadly passed away in the container.

Police say they have taken the driver of the lorry a Northern Irishman from Co Armagh into custody for questioning.
