According to police accounts, a three-year-old daughter sadly died after being discovered unconscious in a car that had heated up to an incredible 54C. The small girl had been left alone, securely restrained, as her family visited a nearby park, reports The Mirror.

The tragic event started on Sunday night in the Arizonan town of Buckeye, when police were called in reference to an unconscious youngster found inside a car that was parked outside a house.

A big family got into the car, according to the investigators, and they went to a nearby park before heading back home about 2:00 pm, reports The Mirror.

Sadly, when her parents noticed the little child had been absent for a few hours, they examined the car at 5 o’clock.

The moment they discovered she was unconscious inside the car, they dialled 911, reports The Mirror.

The youngster was rushed to the hospital by police, who tried life-saving techniques before tragically declaring her dead, according to the Mirror US. She is the third youngster to pass away in an Arizonan vehicle this summer due to the relentless summer heat.

“Calls like these are difficult for everyone involved: the families, the first responders and the community. Nobody wants to hear this news,” expressed Buckeye Police Public Information Officer Carissa Planalp. “In this extreme heat, temperatures are nothing to play with, and time is absolutely of the essence,” reports The Mirror.
