Investigation underway after foreign national nurse assaulted female colleague with a syringe full of strong sedative in Galway Hospital

A nurse who attacked a colleague at Galway University Hospital with a syringe filled with a powerful sedative has been found guilty of professional misconduct, reports Breaking News.

Nurse Kofi Kyremateng Kankam, 53, was found guilty of multiple charges of professional misconduct while caring for an elderly man at the same hospital, where he failed to spot early warning signs that the patient’s condition was deteriorating.

The expert report concluded that the patient had “severe sepsis” with a high risk of death and that Mr. Kankam’s failure to monitor the patient’s condition prevented him from receiving “time-critical interventions,” reports Breaking News.

A fitness to practice investigation by the Irish Nursing and Midwifery Board also found that Mr Kankam had claimed money from the nursing agency for shifts he had worked at UHG for over two and a half months while employed full time.
