The Football Association of Ireland have confirmed that it’s servers were hit by a cyber attack over the weekend.

In a statement released late on Wednesday evening, the FAI confirmed that it’s servers in Abbotstown were the subject of a security breach.

The association said that the Data Protection Commission has been informed about the attack and cyber forensic teams are reviewing the incident.

Although a number of email accounts are believed to have been targeted, the FAI have moved to reassure fans that the payments section wasn’t affected by the breach.
