Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses following the death of a teenage cyclist in the Tallaght area of County Dublin on Wednesday night.

The deceased teenager suffered fatal injuries when he collided with a pillar in a residential area around Fortunestown Lane around 10.30pm Wednesday night. No other vehicles were involved in the collision, reports The Mirror.

Ambulances and gardaí arrived at the scene and the man was transported to Tallaght University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Garda investigators conducted a technical investigation at the scene of the accident last night and Gardaí have now issued an appeal for anyone in the area who may have footage of the tragic accident to come forward, reports The Mirror.

A Garda spokesperson told The Irish Mirror: “Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Anyone who was in the vicinity of Mac Uilliam Heights in Tallaght yesterday evening between 10pm and 10.45pm and who may have camera footage (including mobile phone and dash-cam) is asked to make this footage available to Gardaí. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tallaght Garda station on 01 666 6000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station,” reports The Mirror.
