An Iran-owned oil tanker has suffered heavy damage after being struck by two rockets near the port of Jeddah in the Red Sea.
It is understood that there were no casualties among the crew, but oil is now leaking into the water.
The rockets’ trajectory suggests that the weapons were launched from nearby Saudi Arabia, but nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
The incident is likely to exacerbate the already perilous situation in the area, after several oil-related incidents in the past few months.
