Iraqi forces detained a teenage boy wearing a suicide belt in the city of Kirkuk last night.
A statement released by local authorities said: “Police forces managed to stop a bomber who was wearing a suicide belt. He was born in 2001.”
The incident comes days after a suspected child bomber detonated a similar device among wedding guests in the Turkish city of Gaziantep.
Last Saturday’s blast in Turkey killed 54 people, most of them under the age of 18, as they celebrated a wedding.
Extremist organization ISIS, which routinely uses underage boys and girls to carry out attacks, is being blamed for the atrocity.
