Ireland get Autumn Nations Cup off to winning start with victory over Wales

Ireland have gotten their inaugural Autumn Nations Cup campaign off to a winning start with a 32-9  victory over Wales.

In a much improved performance following on from the Six Nations disappointment in Paris, Andy Farrell’s men quickly put the memory of that defeat behind them as they punished an ill disciplined Welsh at the Aviva Stadium.

Ireland who were victorious mainly through the boots of Johnny Sexton, Billy Burns and Conor Murray took full advantage early on as Wales gave away a number of early penalties.

The games first try came on the 23rd minute as Roux crossed over following a number of good phases from the Irish forwards.

Ireland who kept the score board ticking over withstood some early second half pressure from the Welsh who kept themselves via the boot of Halfpenny.

However Ireland were ensured victory as they once again profited from the Welsh ill discipline and Conor Murray slotted over two late penalties.

The icing was put on the cake when James Lowe capped of his debut with a second try.
