Ireland is safe: Man in critical condition after being badly beaten in Dublin

A man in his 40s is in critical condition following an assault in Dublin in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 2.35am on Amiens Street in the North Wall area of Dublin 1, reports RTE.

The injured man was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where he remains in a critical state.

Gardaí said a technical examination of the scene has been completed, reports RTE.

They are appealing for witnesses to come forward as part of their investigation.

Anyone who was in the area between 2.30am and 2.50am and may have video footage, including dash-cam recordings, is being asked to provide it to investigators, reports RTE.

Gardaí confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing, reports RTE.
