#IrelandisFull is trending on Twitter after a Muslim migrant from Syria stabbed several small children and one adult at a playground in the Alpine town of Annecy, France.
French people have become accustomed, over recent years, to Muslims massacring their fellow citizens in the streets with atrocities such as the Charlie Hebdo attack, the slaughter of young people at the Bataclan Theatre, the truck attack on families watching Bastille Day fireworks display and even the beheading of an elderly Catholic priest in middle of Mass to name just a few but Thursday’s attack marks a new escalation of the horror.
The attacker, who surrendered to police, is a Syrian asylum seeker, residing in France legally, who specifically targeted toddlers at a playground in his early morning attack with two of the children and one adult currently fighting for their lives in the aftermath.
Atrocities such as these have driven home the need for more stringent boarder controls not just for Ireland but all Western nations however, in Ireland, not a single political party currently in the Dáil support this stance and this is in spite of a recent poll which showed 75% of Irish people think the country has accepted too many refugees and asylum seekers.
