Irish ‘Army Rangers’ Afghanistan mission rescues 26 but leaves behind ‘at least 60 Irish citizens’ and their families




Simon Coveney, currently serving as Minister for Foreign Affairs was on our media channels explaining how he and his department were sending Irish Army Rangers and Emergency Consular Assistance Team to Afghanistan to “assist in the evacuation of remaining Irish citizens.

The Irish Mirror is now reporting that the Army Rangers aiding the Emergency Consular Assistance Team did arrive in Afghanistan but could only evacuate 26 Irish citizens and residents.

Current estimates show that there are at least 60 Irish citizens and their families still in need of support in the country, as well as 15 Afghan citizens with Irish residency.
