It’s been confirmed that a number of Irish citizens are on the Grand Princess cruise ship that’s currently moored off San Francisco as part of the worldwide coronavirus outbreak.
The ship has since been nicknamed the “coronavirus Grand Princess cruise ship”. It’s been confirmed that a senior member of the ship’s crew is an Irishman but thankfully he’s said to be in good health and has not contracted the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, according to RTE, the department of Foreign Affairs has said: “The consulate in San Francisco is in touch with local authorities and monitoring the situation closely.
“It is the department’s policy in providing consular assistance that commentary is not given on individual cases and the people or families involved.”
A total of 21 people on board the cruise ship have tested positive for the coronavirus.
