Irish national dies after getting into difficulties while swimming in Spain

An Irish national has tragically died after getting into difficulties while swimming in Spain.

It is understood that the man, aged in his 20s, was taking part in the Camino trek, across northern Spain with a number of friends. He went for a swim and was found in an unresponsive state a short time later.

The young man, who’s believed came from the Cork area, was pronounced dead in hospital.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
