The crew of the Irish Navy vessel LÉ Eithne managed to rescue over 700 migrants from the perilous Mediterranean waters over the last 24 hours.
In total, the vessel rescued 571 men and 121 women, some of them in a pregnant state.
LÉ Eithne has been on station in the Mediterranean Sea for some time carrying out and assisting in rescue operations.
