Irish pledges €5m in funding to aid humanitarian crisis in Yemen

The Irish Government have confirmed that they will provide €5m in funding to aid what has been described as the worst humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

In an announcement made on Tuesday, the Minister for the Diaspora and International Development, Ciarán Cannon told a conference in Geneva that the Irish Government was committed to supporting aid response in the region.

The latest funding now breaks the total to €21m after Ireland committed to the UN’s aid programme back in 2012.

Meanwhile the UN say they are looking to raise raise $4.2bn (€3.7bn) to fund humanitarian aid operations in the war torn country.
