Irish pro-choice group start campaign to ban peaceful pro-life events near premises performing abortions




n the middle of a national lockdown and worldwide pandemic, the pro-choice Limerick Feminist Network are hosting an online meeting this week to launch a campaign calling for “the implementation of safe access zones around family planning centres / maternity hospitals and healthcare facilities.

A new twitter account has been launched by the group “Together for Safety”, a name derived from the abortion campaign “together for choice.”

The group is part of the Limerick Feminist Network which see’e itself as pro-choice but wants to ban pro-life voices from being heard in the public space around abortion facilities.

It’s understood that Labour TD Jan O’Sullivan will be supporting the meeting and its objective. Mairead Enright, the co-founder of Lawyers for Choice will also be in attendance to show support and solidarity with banning pro-life peaceful events near abortion facilities.
