Irish Rail have confirmed that they are currently in liaison with Gardaí in order to crack down on the so called “tissue scam” which is being carried out on Dublin trains over the past few weeks.
Irish Rail say they have begun an investigation into the scams which involves a group of people traveling on Dart or commuter trains and placing packets of tissues on every seat.
It is understood the sellers who are known to be aggresive then try to persuade any commuter who tries to remove the packet to buy it.
A spokesman for Irish Rail, Barry Kenny, had said the company are aware of the scam and have contacted gardaí and rail security to investigate such incidents.
