Irish teenager present during Brussels attacks recounts the ordeal.

Early this morning, two bomb attacks in Brussels Airport have left roughly 34 people dead.

Shealyn Caulfied from Ballymena, Co Antrim a young student was present in Brussels at the time of the incident and recounted her experience.

Ms Caulfied stated that she and 20 other students that were travelling to the airport actually missed their train to get there, narrowly avoiding the brutal attacks.

The 17 year old said “We missed our first train to the airport so we were 10 minutes behind schedule and missed the bombing by a few minutes”

The local metro station the young people were waiting at was bombed however none of the teenagers present were injured.

The teenager commended locals for their help and admitted that despite “some tears, the moral is high. We definitely
have been super lucky”.

In Belgium with members of a youth service, they now plan to travel home via Amsterdam.
