The unmitigated disaster that is Irish Water just keeps on rumbling.
The wretched utility has been ordered to pay a €3,000 fine to charity, to avoid a criminal conviction.
The fine stems from Irish Water’s failure to timely complete a €1m project to improve the quality of drinking water in Carraroe, Co. Galway. The village was under a boil water notice earlier this year, as its water supply was found to contain excessive amounts of trihalomethanes (THMs), a series of chemical compounds pernicious to human health.
As a result of its failure, Irish Water now has to pay €3,000 must go to the local charity Aras an Dara.
