There is a possibility that daytime restrictions could be implemented on water supplies across the country if there is no significant rainfall in the coming weeks.

The news of possible daytime restrictions, comes after Irish Water confirmed that nighttime restrictions will be implemented in the greater Dublin area next week.

Although there is currently no need to implement any daytime restrictions in the immediate future, the state utility say the lowering of water pressure may have to be considered as a last resort measure in order to conserve water supplies this coming September and October.

Irish Water say all scenarios are being considered to conserve water supplies after the country seen little to no rainfall over the past two months.

The state utility have however confirmed that nighttime restrictions will be implemented in the greater Dublin area beginning from next week and those restrictions could be imposed in other areas across the country if water levels continue to drop.

Irish Water say the restrictions which will see reduced water pressure between 12am and 5am in many parts of Dublin and its surrounding regions from Monday onwards.
