Irish woman suicidal after being raped three times by Romanian who complains his herpes not being treated in prison




A Romanian national has been found guilty of three counts of rape and one of false imprisonment after a nine-day trial at the Central Criminal Court last year is still awaiting sentencing.

Costel Pirvu (38), formerly of Loughrea, Co Galway complained that his various health problems such as herpes as well as stomach and ear issues had not been treated during his time in prison and claims he was beaten The Irish Times reported.

Pirvu was found guilty of attacking and raping his victim, then 19, as she walked home in the early hours of February 4th in a small town in the West of Ireland in 2018.

The foreign national has three previous convictions in Romania and Germany, including for robbery, attempted rape and assault.

These convictions however, did not prevent him from settling in Ireland in 2017 according to the Irish Times.

The Romanian man raped her before forcing her back to his a apartment where he raped her a subsequent two times before releasing her the following morning after his roommate entered the apartment.

The Irish Times reported a medical examination showed that the teenager had sustained bruises and scrapes to her face, back, breasts, arms, legs and genital area, including a 2mm laceration to her urethra.

“I felt like a piece of meat,” the unnamed woman wrote in her victim impact report for the court.
