Authorities in the US have confirmed that an Irishman has been taken to hospital after being injured when a lightning strike occurred at the Tour Championship in Atlanta.
It is believed that the man and five others were injured after lightning struck a tree East Lake Golf Club.
The incident which resulted in play being suspended saw five people being taken to hospital, whilst another spectator was treated at the scene.
The Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that they have been made aware of the incident and they are providing assistance to the man’s family.
