Locals in Tralee say that the fatal stabbing of a man at a funeral on Wednesday was that of a row between travellers.
The traveller community always preach about how they experience racism and are treated like second class citizens, but as one local put it “is nothing sacred anymore?”, “how can they expect anyone to treat them civilly when the vast majority of their own families are pure thugs”.
Gardai have launched an investigation following the stabbing which also left the man’s wife with serious injuries and in hospital.
The victim, a male in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife was also seriously injured and has been rushed to hospital to Kerry.
Gardai have not said that these people were travellers but locals said it’s well known in the area that they were travellers who came from Killarney to Tralee for a woman’s funeral.
