The so-called ISIS Bride Lisa Smith reportedly tried to use information about an Ireland-based family to secure safe passage back to Ireland, the Irish Mirror reports.
The family in question is thought to have extremist links, and are allegedly fearful that Ms. Smith could blow their cover for her own benefit.
Dundalk native Lisa Smith travelled to Syria in 2016 to join the ISIS ranks, but has seemingly embraced her Irishness back since the caliphate’s defeat.
The Irish Government has been falling over themselves to enable both Ms. Smith and her daughter to return back to Ireland, going as far as deploying elite Ranger operatives to oversee the operation.
