Islamic State claim responsibility for attack on Catholics in Sri Lanka, releasing photo of bombers

A media outlet linked to the Islamic State has released a photo of the seven suicide bombers that struck three hotels and three Catholic churches on Easter Sunday killing at least 321 people.

The photo was posted by the Amaq news agency, I.S’s official mouthpiece and shows the seven Muslim terrorists along with the mastermind of the atrocity.

In claiming responsibility for the terror attack I.S said that it had targeted Christians at Mass on Easter in revenge for the Christchurch Mosque attacks which killed 50 people.

In a statement the genocidal Muslim terror group said

“The perpetrators of the attack that targeted nationals of the countries of the coalitions and Christians in Sri Lanka before yesterday are fighters from the Islamic State.”

The group also realised the names of the bombers while Sri Lankan authorities have arrested 40 people in connection with the attack as of Tuesday. One of those detained it believed to be a Syrian.

It has also emerged that Sri Lankan intelligence services were aware of a threat against Christians and foreigners in the country for several weeks, but political infighting meant that the government had failed to take it seriously.
