There’s been online outrage after it emerged that now both a garda and a fireman participating in a charity white collar boxing match have been let go from their jobs for the time being for their participation in a ‘joke traveller video’ that was posted online.

The video shows the garda in question responding to being “called out” for a Dublin fireman he’s due to have a charity white collar boxing match with.

The bout is aimed to raise much needed funds for charity but the traveller community got very angry about it and demand that action be taken against both men.

The two videos were widely condemned by the traveller community, some of whom have used social media to call out opponents in bare knuckle boxing matches over the years.

The clip shows the garda responding to a fireman who pretend to pour urine over his face preparing for the fight. The garda, wearing a garda vest, responds by saying that he’ll end up kicking the bucket (of urine) that he splashed his face from.

Social media users have been reacting to the heavy-handed suspension by claiming that the two men were simply joking and that there was nothing offensive in the videos whatsoever.
