Acting Minister for Transport Paschal Donohue has said it would be a “disaster” for him to get involved in Luas disputes.
He said his intervention would completely undermine the mediation process between Transdev and SIPTU.
Operator Transdev placed all Luas staff on protective notice this week and warned of pay cuts if strikes continue.
Paschal Donohoe said his intervention would not help matters.
“It would be a disaster because with one single move it would undermine all the institutions and organisations we have in place for dealing with industrial relations,” he said.
“The institutions we have were set up by government and I will be supporting them.”
